Berri MTB group have mapped out a magnificent ride alongside the Murray River to lock 4 and Katarapko creek area. We have marked it with pink cloth at the moment but plan to put in pine posts. DENR have ok'd the course. Approx time 2 - 4 hrs. Excellent cliff views at bookpurnong sandbar, have a swim if hot, lock area is sensational, outdoor toilet facility available, log crossing to get to Katarapko Weir. Flat easy ride through creek beds and gum trees. Easier track for kids/family to lock and back takes approx 1-2 hrs. Berri is 2-3 hrs from Adelaide. Stay overnight at Berri Resort Hotel or Berri Riverside Caravan Park. We are designing other tracks for your enjoyment eg Katarapko Creek, full length, 4-5 hr ride. Calperum Station sand track 3-4 hr. We encourage MTB enthusiasts to come and enjoy the Riverland. Google Katarapko game reserve to see area. Happy riding.

Hi all!

I'm quite new in Adelaide and recently upgraded my Mountain Bike. I would like to discover places where to ride but also to meet people riding relatively in a regular basis. Are people meeting every weekend (Saturday/Sunday) in the Meeting Places? In which meeting places? In summary, how it works?

Thanks.
Jordi

There's a short 4.4km trail from Centennial Drive to the top of Mt Crawford. The 2.2km climb looks OK and well worth what must be a scream of a 2.2km descent. Has anyone ridden it? I know its not strictly legal as its part of the Heysen Trail but as I'm not from Australia I think it must be time for a bit of European revolt and surely "after dark everywheres legal". Also are there other routes that could be added to the summit climb?
Thanks

I was hoping to write up a little shameless self promotion about my site mytrails.com.au

It's all about getting people outside and active by sharing trails with the rest of the Australian cycling community. You can either upload or draw your trails in the browser and then share them how ever you wish. (or you can keep them private). It's very easy to do. It also has many features that rival it's competition.

If anything I'd love for you to just take a look and let me know what you think otherwise it's free to use.

The url is: http://www.mytrails.com.au

Before you pass this off as spam I'd like to say that my site is completely free and will always be free forever. I'm asking for nothing apart for your feedback. I only wish for this site to be a good resource for anyone who wishes to be adventurous and explore different parts of Australia.

PS: My Trails is also running a competition where you can win a bike computer (funded by yours truly) :D

Hi Guys,

I've recently developed a new site based around uploading and sharing trails with the bike community of Australia.

http://www.mytrails.com.au

My aim is to provide riders with a central hub where they can share their trails with other riders or to help them find new trails. The site is aimed towards all types of riders from the casual to the more hardcore.

Members can upload and manage their own trails in GPX or the popular TCX format and keep a list of their favourite trails from other riders. The interactive maps allow you to click and view distance and elevation at any point in real time.

You can view any trail in 'Map', 'Satellite' and even 'Earth' view right from your browser.

Once logged in you can type in your address to get interactive directions on how to get to a trail or share any trail via Facebook, Twitter or Email.

Becoming a member allows you to download any shared map in GPX format. And best of all - it's totally FREE.

As this site is still very young I need:

1. People to upload their trails to share with others.
2. Any feedback about the site - good and bad. (any features you'd like to see).

Looking forward to your trails and comments.

Mark

Hi all.

I have just put together a Google map of a short ride along the Gawler rail corridor.

It is a combination of vehicle access track and single track.

It is only about 5km each way and rather simple, but its fun when you need something more than the road can offer.

Go to http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=107178415746339037611.0004767065225ef821d5b

Enjoy,

Paul.

Hi

Great site - it needs more publicity !

We are new to Mountain biking and still building up our fitness. We are 3 dads aged 44, 47 , 45 and 3 boys all aged 12.

We love it and have a window now where we can ride every weekend until October.

We are looking for a longer ride - mostly downhill because we are all still getting bike fit . It could have a few uphill sections but not many .

We are very comfortabel on "blue" tracks and have also done a couple of black but find them a bit challenging still. We didn't really enjoy Fox because you seem to either be riding on a fire access road or plumetting over riocks and drop offs that make your toes curl.

Any recommendations?

I see the Callington Ride - perhaps we could do the first half of that?

Where is the longest downhill ride in and around Adelaide ?

Cheers - any help would be much appreciated
